CVS Non-ECB Deal

Posted by Lisa

Aside from the obvious deals that crank out ECB’s, here’s a deal I couldn’t resist. 12 oz. Herbal Essence shampoo and conditioner are on sale BOGO (Buy One, Get One free). They’re usually 3.99 each.

I used 8 coupons that were $3.00 off 2 bottles. I paid 50c per bottle. That’s half the price of the Suave I get at Walmart! No ECB’s, but it was a great deal. 16 bottles for $8. If you have any ECB’s you need to ‘waste’, that’s a great deal to take advantage of.

Today at Kroger

Posted by Lisa

Today I was out and about and stopped at Kroger since it’s always on my way home. I spent $2.08 OOP (out of pocket) and came home with

8 4rolls each of Cottonelle
on sale for 99c
used my 25c coupon (which tripled – one per transaction)

3 Soft soaps
on sale 10 for $10
used the rest of my 35c coupons (which tripled – one per transaction)

Yes, I had to make 8 transactions at the register, but I was the only one in line, so I didn’t break a sweat and things went smoothly. I was surprised to see all this still on sale since the new sale week started yesterday. These are unadvertised deals.

Target Coupon Policy

Posted by Lisa

In case you get an untrained cashier (like I did today) you might want to print this off and take it with you. Yes, you can stack store and mfr. coupons. I had to state their coupon policy to both the cashier and the mgr. (who was even younger than the cashier). She just threw her hands up in the air and said, “Whatever!”

Dear Valued Customer,

Coupons are a great way to save even more when shopping at Target, and we make it easy to use them at our stores. But because of the variety of coupons available to our guests, we do have some guidelines for how coupons can be redeemed at Target:

-We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued coupons and manufacturer-issued coupons.
-We’ll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.
-We can’t give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item; in that case, we’ll adjust the value of the coupon to equal the price of the item.
-We can’t accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.

All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier at the time of sale.

Have questions or want more information about using coupons at Target? Check with a Guest Services Team Leader at your local store. You can also give us a call at (800) 440-0680, or visit us on Target.com. Either way, we’re here to help!

Thanks for shopping with us. We’ll see you again soon at Target.

Sincerely,

Natasha
Target Guest Relations

Free Toothpaste at Target Through 4/19

Posted by Lisa

Target has Colgate Total and Max Fresh toothpastes on sale for $2.19.

Use your $1.50 off manufacturer coupons and stack them with the $1.00 off Target coupons below for free toothpaste plus a possible overage!

I still haven’t figured out how to make a link. I’m sure it’s easy, but I just have to figure it out. In the meantime, go to this URL (sorry about you needing to cut & paste) and get as many $1 off coupons as you want.

I had 8 mfr. coupons, so I only printed 8 store coupons.

Don’t ya just love coupon stacking!

More Kroger Freebies Today For Me!

Posted by Lisa

I love living where there is a CVS, a Walgreens and a grocery store on every corner. Today I ran an errand and went by a Kroger that isn’t the one right around the corner from my house. I cleaned out the rest of my freebie coupons because this Kroger had lots of sale products that were still on the shelves.

I walked out with 8 Brut deodorants, 4 Softsoaps, 2 bags of salad and didn’t pay a thing out of pocket. I was just in the area, had the time, so I pulled in to see if anything was left on their shelves.

Beware of Bogus “Unadvertised” Sales

Posted by Lisa

Many times stores will have unadvertised sales and you don’t know about it until you get a nice surprise at check out. Many sites on the internet list these types of sales, but occasionally we find a bad one, or one that seems to work everywhere else in the country but where you live.

People have been posting left and right about an unadvertised CVS deal. It may work elsewhere, but not in the DFW area. They’re saying 11 oz. M&M bags are generating $3 ECB’s (limit 2). Not so. The best I could find on the bags are bogo (buy one get one free) – also listed as b1g1.

Just wanted to throw out a warning to you CVS newbies, and really to anyone who finds unadvertised deals. They’re sweet if true, but they can really do damage to your OOP (out of pocket expense) if you’re working a deal and it turns out to be false.

Talking About a Book With Your 5th-8th Grader

Posted by Lisa

I can’t read every book each of my children read, and I came across this little helpful list on Susan Wise Bauer’s website a long time ago. I’m using it and thought someone might like it. It’s also helpful with book clubs, written summaries, etc.

For a novel
Who is the book about? (central character[s])
What do the central characters want?
What keeps them/him/her from getting it?
How do they get what they want?
Do they have an enemy or enemies? Is there a villain?
What does the villain want?
What do you think is the most important event in the story?
What leads up to this event?
How are the characters different after this event?
Pick out the most important event in each chapter.
How many different stories does the writer tell?

For a biography
What kind of family did the subject come from?
What were his/her parents like?
Where did he go to school?
What did he want the most as a child? As a grownup?
How did he go about getting it?
Name three or four important people in his life.
Did he/she get married? To whom? When?
Did they have children?
What was the most important event in his life?
Name three other important events in his life.
Did he get what he wanted in life? Why or why not?
Why do we still remember this person?

For evaluation
What was the most exciting part of the book?
What was the most boring part of the book?
Did you like the character(s)? Why or why not?
Did you hope that he/she would get what he/she wanted?
Did any part of the book seem particularly real?
Did any part of the book seem unlikely to you?
Did you hope it would end in another way? How?
Would you read this book again?
Which one of your friends would enjoy this book?

Make Your Own Foaming Soap

Posted by Lisa

3 parts water to 1 part liquid soap (I prefer Softsoap)

I invested in those Dial foam soap pumps for all our sinks (certainly not without coupons). Now I make foam soap for everyone. The kids make less of a mess, and it all gets washed off their little hands that are always in a hurry. It also obviously drops the speed at which we blow through soap. Sure, you have to refill their little dispensers more often, but it’s worth it to save some $$$.
