Free Chick-Fil-A For a Year

Posted by Lisa

I COPIED THIS FROM ANOTHER SITE. YOU MAY WANT TO CALL THE DISTRICT OFFICE OR A LOCAL RESTAURANT TO CONFIRM (I obviously don’t take advantage of all the deals I post).

Shhh…. this is a secret post!

Chick-Fil-A gives out chicken for a year to the first 100 people when they open a new location. (About 52 coupons).
You have to go the night before and camp out in your vehicle until they open at 6 am. When you get there, if you are one of the first 100, you get a number and are guaranteed the coupons if you stay at the site. (So if you are not the first 100, you can go home, you only wait if you will get the coupons.)

Here is a quote from a good friend of mine who’s husband owns a Chick-Fil-A in Arizona. “The first 100 promotion is a lot of fun. It is family-friendly and a lot of folks bring their kids out with them. You can set up a tent, chairs, the whole works. At 6am the morning the store opens you get
awarded your coupons. You can use them any time at any Chick-fil-A. It is awesome.”

They are opening a new location tomorrow, so you can start camping out tonight! #02271) May 1, 2008 Camp Wisdom & 360 Grand Prairie TX

Toffee Coffee Mix

Posted by Lisa

I got this recipe from Hillbilly Housewife (see blogroll).

I don’t treat myself often, but I love to sip my Starbuck’s mocha frap! The world is always a nicer place when I have that cold little bottle in my hand. I like the bottled frap better than the ‘freshly made’ cup at the store. I guess it’s just the preference of creamy instead of icy chunks. Anyway, I try not to buy it at the store for several reasons. I don’t want to be an addict. It’s expensive and I don’t need a bigger bottom than I already have.

However, I do like the occasional splurge. This recipe looked strange to me, but the more I thought about it, the more I drooled. The ingredients have made their way to my shopping list, so I’ll be trying it soon. Just thought I’d share.

1/2 C Instant coffee
1 C Instant non-fat dry milk powder
1/2 C Powdered coffee creamer
1/2 C Brown sugar
1 t Dry fat-free butter flakes (like Butter Buds)
Pinch of salt
1/4 C Butterscotch instant pudding mix

Mix all ingredients together in a dry bowl. Use fork to combine everything. You could use a blender to get a more even, powdery mixture. Yields 2 1/2 cups of mixture.

To make a drink combine 3/4 C Boiling water with 3 T Toffee Coffee Mix.

Doesn’t this sound yummy? You could also place a jar of this in a gift basket with a mug and homemade cookies. I’d be your friend forever!

Common Cold Remedy (Yes, I said “Remedy”)

Posted by Lisa

A couple of months ago, my mother went into the hospital. My family all had colds. I felt a cold coming on (I can always tell when I’m coming down with one) and certainly didn’t want my mother to come down with it, so I went to the health food store. The people who work at this particular store are very knowledgeable. I said, “I’m coming down with a cold and need to take care of someone coming out of the hospital tomorrow. Give me the best of what you have.”

They gave me:
GSE Liquid Concentrate (Grapefruit Seed Extract) 2 fl. oz. cost $10.95
CC-A made by Nature’s Sunshine – 100 Capsules cost $15.25

I was told to put 15 drops of the GSE in 8oz. of water and drink this mixture 3x/day.
I was also told to take 5 CC-A capsules every hour on the hour with water.

Not kidding…the next morning I felt better and never came down with the cold. I’ve tried this once since then and it worked again. Then, my daughter and I did this routine the day before we flew to Washington D.C. because someone in our family always picks up crud on airplanes and brings it home to share. We never caught anything.

Just wanted to share this with you in case you have a situation ever come up where it’s truly detrimental to have a cold around someone. For our family, seemingly we can spend $35 in kleenex alone when colds get passed around our house. FYI.

Did you save your Sunday Walgreens insert? There are store coupons that read:

99c Mennen Speed Stick/Lady Speed Stick
Limit 3

Stack 3 75c manufacturer coupons with each store coupon and you can buy each deodorant for only 24c

This makes a great give-away/garage sale item if you don’t use this particular brand.

Expired Foods

Posted by Lisa

In the spirit of frugality, learn the real truth about the dates we find on our food packages from the grocery store. Go to www.expiredfoods.com Not only do they explain the wording (which doesn’t really take a rocket-scientist), but they give you charts on how long different food groups can last in the refrigerator and the freezer. Nice to know before you throw out those “old” items. Could save you a little cash.

Kroger GM Cereal Deal

Posted by Lisa

Through (at least) next Tuesday, Kroger has certain General Mills cereals on sale 4 for $10.  If you buy 4, you automatically get a $4 discount at the register bringing your price per box to $1.50  (following me?).

If you use your $1.00 off 2 boxes coupon, it brings the price per box down to $1.00  Not free, but cheap.

I took advantage of this and bought 16 boxes for $16.  Forgot to buy milk :)

Cheerios Multi-Grain is on the list!

Not enough deals to get me to TOM THUMB this week.

GE Energy Smart Mini Spiral Light Bulb

Not sure about ALBERTSONS. Recently, every time I hear of a deal, it isn’t happening at my Alb’s. I’m hearing Popeye and Allen’s Frozen Vegetables are free with coupons (from a month or so ago). Use them if you have them! I haven’t confirmed this deal. Might be able to later today or tomorrow. We had a busy weekend and I’m not sure if/when I’ll get to deals this week. I’ll still post what I hear.
